Die beliebte Klasse der FDX-Messer (Field Duty Extreme), die von TOPS hergestellt werden, hat zu zahlreichen Anfragen angeregt, ein kleineres Werkzeug mit breiter Klinge, guter Schneidkante und Durchstechbarkeit zu entwickeln.Es ist als Backup Messer für den Einsatz gedacht. Die Tatsache, dass das Werkzeug aus 1095 Hartstahl mit einer Dicke von ⅛" hergestellt wurde, ermöglicht es dem Träger des FDX 66, das Gerät in der Nähe des Körpers zu verbergen, falls dies erforderlich ist und es bleibt dennoch leicht verfügbar. Der Griff ist skelettiert, um das Gewicht minimal zu halten, es bietet jedoch eine ausgezeichnete Traktion.
Der Zeigefingerausschnitt gewährleistet einen sicheren Halt während des Gebrauchs. Die Klinge und der Griff sind mit einem Coyote-Tan-Finish überzogen, um den Stahl vor den Elementen zu schützen. Die hochwertige Lederscheide (100% US Steer Skin) hält das Werkzeug in einer Position, in der der Benutzer es aus der vertikalen oder horizontalen Position ziehen kann.
